There was an army barracks that had on its duty roster 4 soldiers to guard at all times a concrete slab in front of the barracks. The soldiers changed shifts guarding the slabs for many years. Different commanders came and went and the tradition continued.
After many years, a new commander was assigned to the barracks. Amongst the things he did was asking why things were done the way they were. When he asked why soldiers were guarding the slab, he was told, "We've always done it this way. It's our tradition. Our former commanders instructed us to do that."
The commander was adamant on finding out why. He went to the archives to look for answers and he came across a document that had the explanation. The document was very old.  It had instructions written by one of the retired commanders who had even passed away.
The new commander learnt that over 80 years ago, the barracks wanted to build a platform where events could be performed. When the concrete slab was laid, wild animals walked over it at night before the slab would dry. The soldiers would fix it the next morning but when evening came the same thing would happen. So the commander ordered that 4 soldiers should guard the concrete slab for 3 weeks to allow it to dry. The following week the commander was transferred to another post and a new commander was brought in. The new commander found the routine and enforced it and every commander that came did the same. Eighty years later the barracks continued guarding a concrete slab.
What beliefs, attitudes, traditions have you carried on that were relevant to certain people or a certain time and they are still being carried out by you? Is your opinion about yourself, people of a different race, the opposite sex, certain business opportunities, new products etc obsolete? Question the status quo.

Information Technology Career Overview

A background in computer science, including facility in writing and interpreting programming code, is almost always the fundamental requirement for this field. As computer technology both becomes more pervasive in Financial Services and changes rapidly, skilled IT professionals are increasingly more valuable.
According to an article in the 12/5/09 issue of The Economist ("Silo but deadly"), the financial services industry was on track to spend over $500 billion worldwide on information technology in 2009. This is greater than any other industry, and also exceeds the aggregate spending by all governments on IT.
In-House Information Technology Staff: One attraction of pursuing a career in information technology is that IT departments are among the most progressive in allowing staff to work from home (that is, to telecommute), being much further along this curve than most other groups in most companies.
Advancing Your Career: To advance in an in-house information technology department, or to create opportunities for a potential switch to the management side of the company, you have to be more than someone who takes directions and writes code. You must develop management skills, beginning with learning all you can about the organizations that act as your internal clients, to anticipate their needs and to suggest solutions. This way you become a valued strategic partner rather than a mere mechanic.
Managing Expectations: The best information technology people do an excellent job of managing their business partners’ expectations. Making accurate, realistic estimates of what you can accomplish, and in what time frame, is a key factor in establishing credibility. Just as failing to deliver what you promise is unacceptable, so is grossly overestimating the time and resources that you need to finish the job right.
Systems Liaison: While the core of systems consulting includes people with expertise in programming and other technical fields, there also are jobs for people to serve as liaisons between the "business side" and the "technical side." These liaison people are able to understand the business requirements for a given systems project, and to communicate them cogently and logically to the technical staff. Likewise, the liaison people must know enough about programming, systems design and systems implementation to advise the business side on their options and to manage their expectations realistically.
This liaison role is also very important within companies that have their own technical staffs, but rarely gets assigned as a full time job. Instead, it frequently ends up being an unofficial side job for people who acquire an aptitude for it. In Financial Services, the systems liaison role regularly falls to people in the financial organization, especially departmental controllers.

SEO Tools Review - Find The Best Value SEO Tools

Finding The Best SEO Software Tools

If you have already read the SEO Introduction page, you will understand that SEO is a fascinating and huge subject, and one which  webmasters ignore only if they are happy to have no visitors to their websites. There are many facets to SEO techniques, but there is no doubt that doing all the things you need to do in order to get to the top of the search engine results pages can take you many hours every day for a long time,  even just for one website. Fortunately there are many tools out there that can help you make this work much easier and faster.
The following SEO software packages have been chosen based on their effectiveness, usability and value for money. Like most things on this site, they are aimed at helping the lone webmaster or individual who is working on their own personal or small business website. You could pay a lot more for other packages, tools or services, but these are likely to be over the top in both functionality and cost. My advice is geared towards people who are not in a position to pay substantial fees to SEO companies to undertake this work for them.  Such large and ongoing costs are only ever likely to be justified by sizeable established businesses. All the following tools give you the power to undertake all the SEO work you need to on your own.

The Most Effective SEO Tools - Reviews and Recommendations:

There are tons of SEO products out there, many extremely expensive and many not very effective. I have therefore cut through the dross to highlight some of the best value ones.

SEO Elite

This is the real pack leader, created by Brad Callen, who clearly puts his theory into practice by ranking number one on Google for an extremely competitive search term. This is a single comprehensive SEO tool covering all the essential aspects of search engine optimization. There is a very clear understanding of what is required to achieve high rankings, and a focus on doing only those things required to get those results. The main thrust is on analysing the sites currently at the top of the rankings to get the information you need to put your own site there. It includes everything you need for submitting your site to links directories and even an article submission programme.
The package includes full support, which many others do not, and there are various video tutorials to help get you started. Not dirt cheap but it costs far less than many, and definitely the best value for money when you weigh the cost against how effective it is. Significantly, there is a money back guarantee if you haven’t doubled your online income inside two months. That speaks volumes for how confident they are about how well the product works. Have a look at the website HERE.

Weblink SEO

Another effective package that covers all the main SEO functions.  It is a cheaper option than SEO Elite, though does tend to focus primarily on the link building side. Weblink SEO helps to automate link building (including automatically creating link directory pages), directory submission, analysis of other websites and keyword research and optimization.  Find out more on their website here.

Top Pick For An All Inclusive Package - SiteBuildIt

The SEO software you choose will depend what stage you are at with your website development, but no review of SEO tools would be complete if I did not mention a market leading website design package that includes all the SEO tools you need too.  SiteBuildIt is a website building package that includes domain name, hosting, keyword tools, search engine submission, ranking tracker, ezine publisher, and everything else you could possibly need build a high ranking website.  For detailed information on all the tools included in the SiteBuildIt package, have a look at this page.
The real purpose and beauty of SBI is that it is essentially a tool to build an online business.  You don't use SBI as just a website design tool or an integrated SEO system, you use SBI to guide you all the way from having no clue how to make a website, to creating a high ranking website, designed from the start to make you money.  I haven't found anything else like SiteBuildIt on the net, and there are tons of ecstatic cutomers out there who swear by it as the key to their successful online business.
It is difficult to quickly summarise everything SBI does because there is so much to it, but the essential beauty (and thing that makes it unique) is that they take you by the hand and guide you right from the start through a step by step process that enables you to identify the best subject for your site, the most profitable keywords, a professional look, a search engine friendly structure and a  lot more besides. I just wish I had known about it when I first started, because it is so ideal for someone who has not done much, or any, website development. If you think it could be appropriate for you, the easiest thing is to spend some time looking at their website, as there is a lot to take in. Their video tour is quite a good introduction to the basic ideas.

A man is driving down a deserted stretch of highway when he notices a sign out of the corner of his eye. It reads:

He thinks it was just a figment of his imagination and drives on without a second thought. Soon he sees another sign which says:

Suddenly, he begins to realize that these signs are for real. Then he drives past a third sign saying:

His curiosity gets the best of him and he pulls into the drive. On the far side of the parking lot is a somber stone building with a small sign next tothe door reading:

He climbs the steps and rings the bell. The door is answered by a nun in a long black habit who asks,

"What may we do for you, my son?"

He answers, "I saw your signs along the highway, and was interested in possibly doing business."

"Very well, my son. Please follow me."

He is led through many winding passages and is soon quite disoriented. The nun stops at a closed door, and tells the man,

"Please knock on this door."

He does as he is told and this door is answered by another nun in long habit, holding a tin cup. This nun instructs,

"Please place 5000 in the cup, then go through the large wooden door at the end of this hallway."

He gets 5000 out of his wallet and places it in the second nun's cup. He trots eagerly down the hall and slips through the door, pulling it shut behind him. As the door locks behind him, he finds himself back in the parking lot, facing another small sign:

Have you ever compared making love to a woman with anything else? if u haven't try these

Making a cup of coffee is like making love to a beautiful woman. It's got to be hot. You've got to take your time. You've got to stir.. gently, and firmly.

You've got to grind your beans until they squeak. And then you put in the milk.

Laying a carpet is.. very much like making love to a beautiful woman.
You check the dimensions, lay her out on the floor, pin her down, nail her, then walk all over her. If you're adventurous - like me - you might like to try an underlay.

Well, hanging wallpaper is also very much like making love to a beautiful woman.
Clean all the relevant surfaces, spread her out on the table, cover her with paste, and stick her up. Then you clean your brush, light your pipe, stand back and admire your handiwork.

Putting up a tent, is.. very much like making love to a beautiful woman.
You rent her, unzip the door, put up your pole an'.. slip in to the old bag.

Washing a car, is very much like making love to a beautiful woman.

You've got to caress the bodywork. Breathe softly and gently. And give every inch of it your loving attention. And make sure you've got a nice wet sponge.

And yet, having therapy is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. You.. get on the couch, string 'em along with some half-lies and evasions, probe some deep dark holes, and then hand over all your money.

Going to the brink of death and back, in a nine car pile-up on a dual carriage-way, is.. very much like making love to a beautiful woman.
First of all, brace yourself, hold on tight - particularly if it's a rear-ender. And pray you make contact with her twin airbags as soon as possible.

Going fishing was very much like making love to a beautiful woman.
First of all, clean and inspect your tackle, carefully pull back your rod cover, and remove any dirt or gunge that may have built up whilst not in use. Then, extend your rod to its full length, and check that there are no kinks or any wear. Particularly at the base, where the grip is usually applied.
Make sure you've got a decent float, the appropriate bait, and that there's plenty of shot in your bag.

The bulb that never goes off

  • Age: 110 years and counting (as of June 2011)
  • Installed: First installed at the fire department hose cart house on L Street in 1901. Shortly after it moved to the main firehouse on Second. In 1903 it was moved to the new Station 1 on First and McLeod, and survived the renovation of the Firehouse in 1937, when it was off for about a week. During it's first 75 years it was connected directly to the 110 Volt city power, (subject to the power outages) , and not to the back-up generator for fear of a power surge. In 1976 it was moved with a full police and fire truck escort, under the watch of Captain Kirby Slate, to its present site in 1976 at Fire Station 6, 4550 East Ave., Livermore, California. It was then hooked to a seperate power source at 120V according to Frank Maul, Retired City Electrician, with no interuptions since.
  • Proof of Longevity: From local newspaper records; also GE engineers researched it. Was donated to the Fire Department in 1901 by Dennis Bernal who owned the Livermore Power and Light Co.
  • Vital Statistics: The improved incandescent lamp, invented by Adolphe A. Chaillet, was made by the Shelby Electric Company. It is a handblown bulb with carbon filament. Wattage- Began at 60 watts, currently shines at 4 watts. Left burning continuously in firehouse as a nightlight over the fire trucks. For some research test results on another Shelby bulb at Annapolis follow this link.
  • Recognition: Declared the oldest known working lightbulb by Guinness Book of World Records. Ripley's Believe-It-or-Not in 1972 researched it and declared it the oldest. Charles Kurault of the TV program "On the Road with Charles Kurault" visited the bulb in the 1970s and included it in his book as well. Declarations from the President of the U.S., Congress, Senate, State Senate and Assembly, and Shelby Ohio.In 2007 it was again recognized in Guiness, and Ripleys books.
  • Closest Competitors: The Second longest bulb was listed in the 1970 Guinness Book under the heading Most Durable says that "on 21 Sept 1908 a stagehand named Barry Burke at the Byers Opera House, Fort Worth, Texas screwed in a new light bulb and that it was still burning". The building was renamed the Palace Theatre, and the light was known as the Palace Bulb ever since. It now resides in the Stockyards Museum, and will have been burning for 100 years Sept of 2008. A website is in the works.
The Third, a bulb in a New York City hardware store, Gasnick Supplies, had been working since 1912, but it is unknown if it still works today.
The Fourth is known as "the bulb" which like ours, burns in a firehouse in the town of Mangum, Oklahoma. It has been in operation since around 1926, has no special power conversions, and is turned on and off with normal use.
The Fifth was a bulb in a washroom at the Martin & Newby Electrical Shop in Ipswich, England was dated from 1930 and burned out in January 2001.
For more info on these follow this link to Roadside America, or Wikipedia.
  • Future Plans: The City of Livermore and the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department intend to keep the bulb burning as long as it will. They have no plans at present what to do with the bulb if or when it does burn out. Ripley's has requested it for their museum.
  • Visiting: You can visit the bulb depending on the availability of the Firemen on hand. Go to the rear of the station and ring the bell. If they are in someone will answer the door. Otherwise you can see the bulb if you look through the window up on the top of the wall to your left. To contact them directly you may call the LPFD at (925) 454-2361.
  • Celebration: We commemorated its centennial on Friday, June 8, 2001 at the fire station. Please see the celebration gallery for all the pictures.
Plans are now in the works for the 110th birthday party on June 18, 2011.
For more information about the bulb, contact the Lightbulb Centennial Chairman Lynn Owens at (925) 447-9477, Webmaster Steve Bunn at (510) 538-8207, or email

Remember prolonging your Ejaculation time to get orgasm requires some imagination and effort from both the partners. If you are able to hold a little extra there are good chances of achieving that perfect orgasm.

1. Indulge in foreplay- spend three times the time in foreplay that you spend on actual intercourse.

2. Don't rush, be relaxed in bed, if your heart is surging - lie back and slow down for a minute or two.

3. Foreplay means kissing, massaging and stroking different parts of the body. Both partners should participate and first do it to each other and then do it simultaneously.

4. Enter vagina only when your partner is fully wet and ready for you.

5. Playing with nipples and gentle sucking on the nipples and breasts can often make the vaginal wet and ready for intercourse.

6. Oral sex can stimulate a women's genitalia too and get her be ready for the man.

7. Experiment with different positions.

8. After entering vagina stroke slowly. Rub the head of the organ against the clitoris a few times to excite your partner further.

9. If you think you are ready to 'come' slow down for a few seconds. Be still. Change your position if necessary.

10. Invite your partner to get on top and do the stroking part for sometime and once she tires out mount her again.

My message for you is to experiment and find out what is best for you and your partner. Research indicates that the best sexual intercourse lasts between 7 and 13 minutes. The more time you spend in foreplay the higher the chances of getting the perfect orgasm....

Nokia Kinetic Display: Phones of tomorrow will be bendy

Nokia World demo impresses

Nokia Kinetic Display: Phones of tomorrow will be bendy. Phones, Tablets, Concepts, Nokia 0
  • Nokia has demoed a new technology at Nokia World that shows how the phones and tablets of the future could be bendy.
Exploring whether we need another input method beyond touch and voice, Nokia has developed what it calls the “Nokia Kinetic Device”.
Currently only available as a prototype, the new display technology can be bended to control movement on the screen. Bending forward with two hands zooms out of whatever is on screen for example, while twisting the top left hand corner away from you allows you to click to the next menu item.
The prototype device, which Nokia refused to say when we would see in a commercial product, is currently being used to control music and photos but it is easy to see how the technology could be used in other devices like mobile phones or tablets to control gaming, web browsing and other apps.
A quick play ourselves and it is amazing how simple and intuitive the technology is to use with the user interface reacting instantly to our twists, pulls, pushes and flexes.
The screen itself is pretty stunning too, happily flexing to our wants while all the time being crisp and sharp. Nokia hasn’t used an old screen technology here, or one that is sub par like e-ink.
Sadly, Nokia wouldn’t say when your next phone will be packing such bendy features, however it did tell Pocket-lint that with such technology you have to make it tougher than you would normally to compensate for users testing it to the limits.
Do you want a bendy phone? Let us know in the comments below
